Sierra de Gredos: Experience how far we can get with the garnacha variety
This recently emerged area is based on old recuperated garnacha vines, often with organic growing, using large oak barrels and no added yeasts. Garnacha here is dissimilar from those in southern France and South East Australia, being more acidic and tannic due in great part to its higher elevation and nutrient-devoid decomposed granitic soils. The uniqueness of the style of the Garnacha wines produced in this area have received lots of attention and interest worldwide. Garnachas de Gredos is a project of those who want to make terroir-driven wines in a natural way. Because of the varieties, the mountains, the soils this is a hidden treasure of an undiscovered region.
Canopy
Canopy is one of the most original projects in Spain. A project of two people, Alfonso and Belarmino, that besides extensive knowledge in winemaking, have a passion in producing authentic wines that is transmitted from the land to the bottle by selecting vineyards of old garnachas located at high altitude with ridiculously low productions of 1,300 kilos/hectare; extracting the juice by stepping with the feet on the grape with its own stalk and blending it in the bottle to create a fantastic wine in each category.
